Churi Chinebuli

The winery is focusing on producing exquisite wines from local grape varieties from Imereti in Western Georgia. Imeretian wines have always been famous for their crispness and flavor, but their scarcity makes them real hidden gems; they have always been made in limited quantities, for the needs and enjoyment of the household.Winemakers in Imereti have for centuries been making wine from ancient, indigenous varieties of grape in underground clay amphorae called churi (the local equivalent of Georgia’s increasingly world-famous qvevri), and this method gave the wines their unique combination of lightness, freshness and depth of flavor. We decided to revive this wonderful winemaking tradition using local varietals and to produce exquisite Imeretian wines using both ancient and modern European winemaking methods for the benefit of wine lovers around the world. So both tradition and excellence are at the core of everything the winery does. The vineyards are located in Western Georgia’s beautiful Imereti region, where only the best grapes are carefully harvested in order to produce wines that are worthy of representing the region’s culture and history.
